My day with Heather Morris and Kendall Jenner...
by Brittany Geragotelis
This past weekend, I was in LA for a photo shoot we were doing for the magazine. Our cover girls? Heather Morris (plays Brittany on "Glee") and Kendall Jenner (younger sister of the famed Kardashians).
To say the weekend was exciting is an understatement. And I have the pictures to prove it. I can't give away too much scoop, because I have to save it all for the mag, but I can tell you that I got to meet Bruce Jenner (he's very tall); Kendall is super nice, ridiculously gorgeous (the girl can't take a bad picture!), towered over me and is seriously in LOVE with cheerleading; And Heather is just as funny and loveable in person as she is on the show, is a sick dancer and knew nothing about the rumors of her being the next Buffy (When I told her about the gossip, she looked genuinely shocked).
But without further ado, please enjoy some of these pics from the shoot!

On my way to a celebrity photo shoot...
by Brittany Geragotelis
I’m currently writing this blog from thousands of feet up in the air. At 6 am. On my cute, little HP laptop. And the guy next to me is leaning over into my seat in his sleep...um, hello? It's called personal space for a reason! Anyway, I’m on my way to LA for what is sure to be a very exciting photo shoot. This weekend, my co-workers (shout-outs to Morgan, Jess & Kathy who are currently sitting across the aisle from me...and none of which have a stranger leaning his head on their shoulders, I might add....) and I will be shooting Heather Morris (Brittany on “Glee”) and Kendall Jenner (one of the sisters of the Kardashians) for our cover, and it’s something I’ve been looking forward to for months.

I have to admit, I’ve had a total girl-crush on Heather Morris ever since she said her first funny line on the show, with that deadpan stare and monotone voice of hers. Thank God Ryan Murphy saw the gold they had with her as a castmember and began to give her more of a storyline, because I can’t seem to get enough of the ditzy Cheerio. And I’ve only heard great things about her in the media, so I can’t help but feel like we’re going to get along really well.
And Kendall Jenner? Well, although I’m not a fan of most reality TV, I am obsessed with “Keeping up with the Kardashians” and have watched the second-to-youngest Jenner grow from a teeny-bopper into a self-assured, poised young woman. The thing I find most interesting about her is that she’s currently a cheerleader at her high school, all while filming the show and jump-starting her modeling career. But also, there’s not much information out there about her. We see a ton of Khloe, Kourtney and Kim, but how much do we really know about Kendall? Well, hopefully I’m about to find out.
Now, to be honest, I’m pretty nervous about the day. Not because we’re not prepared (we’ve got everything covered on that end), but because even though they’re people just like you and me (as my old friend, Barry used to say, “They all put their pants on one leg at a time.”), they lead extraordinary lives. And I’m looking forward to catching a glimpse of what it’s like to be in their world. Now, if only I can manage to play it cool while I’m around them (I know I’ll be jumping up and down inside), and not let out my inner super-fan, things will turn out just fine. We’ll be updating our Facebook page and tweeting about the shoot all day tomorrow, so be sure to check back!

Random thoughts from a "Glee" star....
by Brittany Geragotelis
I really hate to say this, but I wasn't all that thrilled by last night's episode of "Glee." And as I reflected on why this may have been true, I realized that it's because I've never actually seen Rocky Horror Picture Show. I'm sure everyone out there who's seen the show loved the special Halloween ep FOX aired last night. But alas, I think that besides the phenomenal writing, incredible acting and inspiring messages, part of the draw of the show for me is singing along to the tunes.
I love that "Glee" does such a great job of mixing in old-school hits with current smashes....guaranteeing that I'll love most of the music they play on each ep. And yes, I am that kind of watcher. I totally sit there, singing along with every song I know, sometimes drowning out the actual singers on the show. To be honest, I don't know how Matt puts up with watching it with me sometimes...but that's his cross to bear, I suppose.
So, I definitely think that part of the reason I wasn't as drawn to this episode was because I simply couldn't sing along. For the first time ever in the show's history, I had never heard a single one of the songs the cast sang. Oddly, Matt wasn't a fan, either, and he, too, has never seen Rocky Horror. Coincidence? I think not. Could the real magic be in the music? What do you think?
For those of you out there who also found themselves without a tune to sing last night, here's a little consolation prize. I recently stumbled upon Dianna Agron's personal blog. A fan of the beautiful actress, but not knowing a whole lot about her, I spent some time browsing her posts (which mostly include art, videos and random thoughts). If you're as intrigued about her as I am, take a look...you'll even get a chance to read her note responding to the recent GQ scandal. I promise, it won't disappoint.
And lastly, here's my favorite quote from last night:
Kurt: "So, what are you going to be for Halloween this year?"
Brittany: "I'm going as a peanut allergy."

Thank God "Glee" is Back!
by Brittany Geragotelis
So, I'll start off this post by letting you know that I got another rejection (ominous duh, duh, duuuuuh!!!). A bit of a bummer, but I'm moving on....because "Glee" started back last night! I was so worked up about it being back on that I practically had a Glee-gasm. That's right, I said it.
Last night's episode did not disappoint on the music front. With songs like "Empire State of Mind" by Alicia Keys, "Telephone" by Lady Gaga featuring Beyonce, and "Billionaire" by Travie McCoy featuring Bruno Mars. But the act that really stole the show was a newbie on the scene, Sunshine Corazon (played by Charice). Man can that girl sing! She's like Christina Aguilera: tiny in stature, big in presence and voice.
And speaking of newbies, we've got three new faces walking around McKinley High. I already mentioned Sunshine Corazon and trust me, she's going to give Rachel a serious run for her money when it comes to the spotlight. Next, we have Hottie McStud-Muffin...errrr, Sam Evans (played by Chord Overstreet; yes, that's his real name. When I first read it, I thought it had to be his character's name on the show. Nope...real life.) who plays the new kid in school who has natural talent both in the music room and on the football field. Again, his voice is awesome and I'm looking forward to hearing (and seeing) more from him. Lastly, there's the very masculine yet emotional new football coach, Shannon Beiste (played by Dot Jones), whose heart is as big as her arms!
So, since they're new to the "Glee" world, I thought it was a good time to get to know them a little better. Here are some fun facts about our new favorite gleeks:
Charice
1. Her real name is Charmaine Clarice Relucio Pempengco.
2. She's a tiny thing, standing at only 4'11" tall.
3. It's no coincidence that her character, Sunshine, sang a song from the movie Dreamgirls for her glee club audition. Apparently a young Charice sang "And I Am Telling You" from the Dreamgirls soundtrack on "StarKing," a Korean variety show, which pretty much launched her career.
4. The first talk show Charice was ever on in the U.S. was "The Ellen Degeneres Show." Check her out back then in the video at the bottom!
5. After meeting her, Oprah called famed music producer David Foster who took her under his wing.
Chord Overstreet
1. He got his name because his dad's in the music biz. He's the third kid in the family and there are three notes in a chord. And thus Chord was born.
2. His first instrument was a mandolin.
3. He's originally from Nashville, TN.
4. Songs he'd like to cover on "Glee?" "Losing My Way" or "Cry Me a River" by Justin Timberlake or T.I.'s "Dead and Gone."
5. Dancing isn't his strong suit, but he's willing to work on it, if they have him dance on the show.
Dot Jones
1. She's a 15-time World Arm Wrestling Champion.
2. She's currently a towering 6'3", but she used to be 6'4".
3. Dot scored her gig on "Glee" after running into co-executive producer Brad Falchuk at a Whole Foods about four months ago.
4. She was first "discovered" at a body building tournament.
5. She worked at Juvenile Probation Services before making the switch to acting.
What do you think of the newbies? Like, Love, Hate? Let me know in the comments above!

Wise words from "Friends"
by Brittany Geragotelis
If you know me, you know that I watch a lot of TV. Seriously, a LOT of TV. Sometimes people are shocked that I manage to find time to write books, blog, read books and have a social life while watching as much television as I do. Shows have the power to impact my mood. They have the power to inspire, the power to give us strength. They have the power to teach us lessons about life.
1. "Friends": There's no such thing as an unselfish good deed. Joey said this to Phoebe and she set off on a mission to find an unselfish good deed. And what did she find? It doesn't exist. Truth is, in the end if no one even knows that you've done something good for someone/something else, you still feel good about doing it, right? That's selfish. At least it's selfish for all the right reasons.
2. "Buffy the Vampire Slayer": Leave a positive impact on the world. Sure, she kills vampires and demons and witches (Oh my!), but the idea that here's this girl who helps to save the world on a daily basis is a very attractive thought to me. I think that everyone wants to know they're on this world for a reason and that when their time is up, the world's a better place because they lived. Every day I ask myself, am I doing something that could impact the world around me in a positive way. If I'm not, I know it's time to do something about that.
3. "Veronica Mars": Take the obstacles in your life and turn them into positives. Veronica was roofied and raped at a party, her BFF was murdered and all her friends turned against her...so, what does she do? Well, she doesn't shut down or turn to mind-altering substances to help her forget it all. She gets sassy, starts working with her father at his private investigation company and makes it her mission to find out the truth about everything that turned her life upside down. Because of this, she ends up helping countless people around her, finds her friend's killer and makes lifelong friends. I find strength in characters like Veronica who don't stay down when life tosses them to the ground.
4. "Dexter": Nobody's who they seem to be. On the outside, Dexter seems like a caring brother, husband, father, friend...but on the inside, he craves violence and murder, which he lets loose on criminals that the system has failed to send to jail. Just because a person you've just met seems nice and normal and you swear they'd never hurt a fly, doesn't make it so. Er on the side of paranoid when it comes to letting your guard down too soon around strangers. Better to take your time getting to know someone than ending up the part of your own E! Hollywood Story.
5. "Glee": Everybody feels like a geek sometimes. Whether you're the pretty girl or the captain of the dork brigade it's inevitable that you're going to have at least one sucky day. A day when you're picked on, feel less than fabulous, and like life will never go your way. Some of us have more than one of these days (mine was all of high school). But the truth is, everyone's too busy just trying to survive to pay attention to your misery. In the meantime, you have to find something that makes you feel like a winner, like you belong, like you're contributing to something bigger than just how popular you are to other people.
6. "House": It's never Lupus. Except for when it is. There are millions of health problems you could have right now...brain tumor, heart murmur, Huntington's Disease, lead poisoning. These are just a handful of what could fit whatever symptoms you have right this second. And there are a million different ways we could die. But if you're lucky enough to have a nasty, angry, bitter, genius doctor like House, someone just might figure out what it is before you kick the bucket.
7. "Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood": Relationships take work—but that doesn't mean they're doomed. Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott fell in love with each other (while they were both still married to other people) and vowed never to change the way they were together. Four years and two kids later, the SO IN LOVE duo hit a rough patch and spent a few rocky months trying to get back to the way they'd been at the beginning of their relationship. But instead of shutting down completely, the couple spent time talking it out and figured out what they needed to work on as individuals, to make the relationship better. The work on their relationship paid off, because they just renewed their vows and seem to be back on track!
So, given my penchant for television watching, it's not surprising that I've learned a lot from TV shows over the years. Here are a few of my favorites:

Friday Likes and Gripes...June 11, 2010
by Brittany Geragotelis
It's that time of the week again...and that means Likes and Gripes are back! Read on as I sum up this week!
2. Famous Friends. I just finished editing a feature on my good friend, Zachary Booth. A rising star in the acting world, this "Damages" regular is not only talented, but he's unbelievably AWESOME! Read my interview with him here!
3. Vamplets. I don't think these need much explanation. They're just freaking cute. And they come with their own bottle of blood. It's like Ugly Dolls, only undead! ($15.95; www.vamplets.com)
4. The book Monster High. I just finished reading the book Monster High by Lisi Harrison (The Clique, Alphas) and I really enjoyed it (book review coming next week and interview with Lisi at a later date). What impressed me most about the book is that Lisi has managed to create a brand out of it. Timed with the release of the novel in September, Mattel will also be launching a clothing line, dolls, action figures, accessories and an animated web series. They've also already sold the movie rights to the novel. This is one of the first instances where I've heard of a company approaching an established author and collaborating with them on a whole brand from day one. And apparently Lisi has a lot of input in everything that's made, which is so rare for authors.
3. Health-Food Diet. Now, I'm not a diet person, and I really hate working out, but a few weekends ago I bought a new swimsuit for the summer (mine from last summer is about 2 sizes too small; this was back when I'd lost an obscene amount of weight because I was having health issues) and I was not pleased with what I saw. Bottom line: I need to tighten things up for my vacation at the beach which is coming up at the end of this month. So, I am on a no junk food, healthy food only (Okay, mostly) diet until I no longer cringe when I put on my new suit. Limiting my food makes me irritated, as I do love my desserts (and my chips and french fries and bagels and waffles, etc.). Ugh. Only a few more weeks until I can gorge myself on Boardwalk Fries!

LIKES
1. Surprise visits. My friend told me this story the other day and it made me laugh so hard I almost peed my pants. So, my friend is a dancer and she'd just gotten home from ballet rehearsal and really had to go to the bathroom. So she goes inside to does her business, but since she was wearing a leotard over her tights, she had to peel everything down in order to go. As she's getting ready to stand back up, all of a sudden a spider fell onto her leg. She has no idea whether it came from the roll of toilet paper or from the ceiling, but she started freaking out and went to brush it off of her, but it landed inside her tights! Now she's scrambling to pull off her tights and leotard (all the while panicking because she doesn't like spiders) to try and get away from the bug. But then she remembers that she has an anklet on—on the outside of her tights. Finally she manages to get the anklet off and then the tights and leo and killed the spider...but now she's freaked out every time she goes to the bathroom.

5. Agent Offers. I know this agent at Trident Media Group and last night he let me know that he will be taking on new clients in July...and that he'd like to read my books! Not an offer or anything, but how cool is that?!?!?!
6. The things people will do to drum up publicity for their books. Seriously, check this out.
GRIPES
1. The season finale of "Glee." It's not that I didn't like it...I did...I was just expecting MORE. Where was Kristin Chenowith? Neil Patrick Harris? And I did NOT enjoy the birthing scene (speaking of, since when can a person go into the baby section of the hospital and say, "I want that one" and choose a child to take home like they would an animal at the pet store?). Creepy. And I strongly dislike that Jesse St. James. He's a jerk. But what was most upsetting about the whole thing is that we're going to have to wait all summer to see another new episode! Argh...
2. Bi-Polar Weather. What's up with the weather going from 85+ and beautiful to 60 and rainy? What gives, Mother Nature? Is it maybe time to go on a little Zoloft to balance your mood swings?

Just a small town girl...
by Brittany Geragotelis
Before I get too far, did anyone watch the finale of "Glee" last night? I have to admit, that before I hit play on my DVR, I was already feeling a bit sad. Knowing that I'm going to have to wait several months to see another new episode...well, it put me into a deep GLEEpression. And though I loved a lot of the music in the ep, I wasn't all that impressed with the finale. Don't get me wrong—I loved the show—I was just expecting a little more, you know? But still...incredible singing (and great choice of music)!
Now, speaking of singers...I met my friend, Stephanie Lynn, through my boyfriend when we first started dating. She played the unattainable hot girl in the movie Matt and his brother shot called The Graduates. And after getting over the shock that she was, in fact, gorgeous in person, I realized that she wasn't a threat (admit it, us girls tend to get threatened by other hot girls), and that she's a REALLY cool girl. Very low-key, fun, sweet and super talented.
Anyways, on a trip to promote The Graduates, I was able to spend some QT with Steph and learned that the girl can sing! And she writes her own music! With a slightly-deep, breathy sound to her voice, and soulful lyrics, hearing her is a soothing experience.
Don't believe me? Well, check her out for yourself. Stephanie Lynn just submitted her demo song "Broken Before" for MySpace's Rock The Space contest and every play she gets helps her chances of winning. So, go ahead and take a listen. The song is catchy and beautiful and sure to brighten your day!
5x5,
B.

Likes and Gripes Friday: May 28th, 2010
by Brittany Geragotelis
It's Friday, and that means it's Likes & Gripes time. Here goes:
LIKES:
1. Sex & the City 2—Okay, so the first time I saw the Sex & the City movie, I hated it. I had a serious problem with Steve cheating on Miranda, and the fact that she got back together with him, as well as the way Carrie was pushing her to just forget the indiscretion. But this was one of those movies where the more I watched it, the more I loved it, and now I like to watch it whenever it's on HBO or Showtime. I'm really excited about Sex & the City 2....for any female growing into an adult in NYC, this is our anthem. I'm really psyched, because I've managed to convince my boyfriend's mom to go with me to see it this weekend, since Matt would rather poke out his eyeballs than be forced to see it. Yay!!!!
2. Long Weekends—It's Memorial Day weekend and that means one more glorious day of freedom from work. I'm spending my days off in Maryland this weekend, eating amazing food, revising Painless, hanging out with Matt's family, playing board games, going to the movies and relaxing. What are your plans?
3. Revisions—When I write a book, I never stop to read back over what I've written as I go. I know that if I were to do that, I'd spend so much time on changing words and sentences that I'd never actually get anything down on the page! This means that by the time I'm finished with a book, I'm not totally sure how it reads. Now that I'm finished with my first draft of Painless, I'm reading back through it and editing as I go. So far so good....it's making sense, seems to have a good pace and I don't hate it. It appears I'm right on course!
4. The "Grey's Anatomy" Finale—I haven't seen a finale in years that has been as intense and dramatic as the "Grey's Anatomy" finale for this season. Spoiler Alert if you haven't yet watched it: I thought the fact that the shooter came in and shot two major players within the first 5 minutes was beautifully done. It was shocking to see him shoot Nora Zhetner smack-dab in the forhead and then turn to get Kerev, too. The way they shot the kill scene was very visually well-done. The scene with Bailey being pulled out from under the bed was harrowing and terrifying and amazingly acted. I really thought the death scenes were beautifully acted...I really think this is a sign of a truly incredible actor. My only gripe is that they didn't really leave anything up in the air. They almost tied up all the loose ends before the end, which could have been better left to next season.
GRIPES:
1. "Glee"—This show's usually always on my LIKES list, but this weekend it had to end up here. It's not that the episode was necessarily bad, it just wasn't up to par with the other episodes we've been seeing lately. Maybe it was because I'm not a fan of Lady GaGa, or maybe it's because there weren't very many awe-inspiring musical numbers or maybe they were just having an off night. Either way, it didn't move me like it usually does. I did, however, love the scene where Kurt's dad stands up for him and the scene at the very end with Tina and the principal. She had me rolling on the floor with her talk of her vampire father coming in and biting him at night.
2. No more TV shows—I thought that having shows on hiatus would be good, because I wouldn't be crazy trying to keep up with the 13 shows I HAVE to watch each week, but now that every show (besides "Glee") has wrapped up their season, I'm starting to have withdrawls. Oh well, I guess that's what Netflix is for, right?
3. Life Imitating Art—This guy robs a drugstore, gets caught, then writes a book about it, which is then made into a movie....and then robs another drugstore and gets caught. Oh, and did I mention he's in his 70s? Come on, guy, you basically gave the cops a blueprint of your evil plan...
4. SCRAM—Anyone hear about Lindsay Lohan being forced to wear a device called a SCRAM, which monitors whether she's drinking? Apparently, a judge is forcing her to wear it until her court proceedings are over (for alcohol-related charges), as well as requiring her to take an alcohol abuse course and random drug tests. Being that most people who have problems with drinking need to have a desire to quit drinking, I'm not sure if this is a good solution for her or not. It is an interesting thought though, like a more rigidly enforced ultimatum. But will it actually help her get sober?

It's Friday, and that means it's Likes & Gripes time! Here we go:
LIKES
1. This week's "Glee"—Best episode ever. Between Doogie Howser guest-starring, Artie dancing to Safety Dance and Joss Whedon directing the ep, the show couldn't get much better than this.
2. Birthdays—Turning 31...not such a big deal. Tonight I'm throwing a birthday party for myself, complete with scary movies, junk food and Nintendo Wii. I'll give you the recap on how it goes tomorrow!
3. Vacations—I never realized how important they can be, until I began to actually take them. I took my first vacation away from work 2 years ago (that's after 5 years of virtually no vacations). There's a reason why you're given vacation days from work. One, you deserve them, and two, I really believe you need them for your own sanity. Life wasn't meant to be all work and no play. Otherwise, what are we living for? Next stop on the vacation train? Disney World!
4. Finishing Books—I'm on the last chapter in my book Painless. I've finished writing the climax and am just rounding out the story. Woo hoo! Then it's on to revisions and sending it out to agents!
GRIPES
1. Competing Ideas—As you know, I receive a lot of books through my work here at cheerleader. I was recently sent a book called Dust City, which is about a kid whose dad is doing time for the double murder of Little Red Riding Hood and her grandmother. This is the second book in the last month that has used Little Red Riding Hood as a plot point. How is it that the most creative ideas seem to come out at the same time? If I were Jackson Pearce, I'd be a little ticked that someone was creeping on my idea. Come to think of it though, Jackson's got such a solid book, I'm sure Dust City is NO competition.

Birthday hangover...
by Brittany Geragotelis
I had the best day yesterday! From the time I woke up to the time I went to bed, I was getting texts, phone calls, voice mails, e-mails and FB messages wishing me a happy birthday! I had no less than six different people sing to me. I received a half-dozen cards, four gift cards (one was to Wendy's!), about 20 hugs and a gorgeous bouquet of flowers from my beau! The day was all about me, all day long and I felt incredibly loved and special.
And now it's over.
So, I've got a minor case of a birthday hangover, as I'm feeling a little sad, a little exhausted from all the excitement and a tiny bit of regret (because the day is over). But instead of treating this hangover with Advil, Gatorade and something greasy, I'm keeping my mind on the party I've got planned for Friday. There's nothing like a night of scary movies, junk food and Nintendo Wii with a dozen of your friends to turn your 'tude around.
Speaking of birthdays, I got to end my night by watching a new episode of "Glee." I know I've said this before, but I really think that last night's episode was the best one so far! Between the hot scene where Will Schuester and Bryan Ryan (Neil Patrick Harris) had a sing-off to Aerosmith's "Dream On" and the flash-mob dance scene with Artie, I was in "Glee" overload! And can we just talk for a minute about how crazy-good a dancer Artie is? Oh. My. God. Why is this actor in a wheel chair!?!?!?! What a waste of his obvious talents! I had to rewind and watch the "Safety Dance" four times before I was satisfied. And the ep was just made that much better by the fact that Joss Whedon (my hero) directed it! If you haven't seen the ep yet, you have to watch it now! But first, here's a little taste below...
It was the perfect way to end my birthday.

Disappointed in Men, but happy with "Glee!"
by Brittany Geragotelis
I don't want to dwell too much on the negative, but I am NOT happy with a certain former vamp right now. What is with this trend of leading men cheating on their wives? Has this always been happening but for some reason the shit's hitting the fan now? David Boreanaz, the broody Angel from (my fave show) "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" & "Angel" has just spilled the beans on his secret affair.
Is it really that hard for people to stay faithful these days? In my opinion, cheating is a conscious decision. No guy just falls into bed with a woman other than his wife by accident. Falling out of love with someone—I don't think that's something you have control over. Sleeping with someone else when you're married (or even dating)? Uh, uh. Sorry. THAT you have control over.
These men just make me disappointed. For some reason, I expected more from them.
But on to better, happier things...Anyone watch "Glee" last night? Once again, a wonderful episode ripe with celeb guest stars. Olivia Newton-John looked amazing and did a good job playing a not-so-humble version of herself (at one point, she mentioned she was in the biggest musical movie of all time and that her records had been HUGE hits). And the remake of "Let's Get Physical"? Well, Olivia and Sue Syllvester (Jane Lynch) were hilarious in matching track suits swimming in a sea of hard-bodies.
And then there was Molly Shannon as a pill-popping alcoholic who recently transferred to the school. You can never go wrong with that woman.
The music was an incredible mash-up of old-school 90s, including "Hammer Time" and "Ice, Ice Baby". Will Schuester is such a cheese-ball that I sometimes cringe when I watch him, but you can't say he doesn't commit to his part. And he brought back some of the dance moves I did growing up, which was fun. When the cast paid homage to M.C. Hammer, I was rolling. And of course, I'm falling more and more in like with the ditzy cheerleader, Brittany (not just because we share a name). She's got such a deadpan comedic delivery of insane lines that I can't help but cheer for her.
My only gripe? Has anyone else noticed that they've been really obvious lately with their show themes? It reminds me a little of "7th Heaven" with their "this is the moral of this episode" stuff. Less than 5 minutes in, I was like, "Okay, this episode is about reputations." I really think the show's audience is smarter than that and don't need to be hand-held through the eps.
All in all, another great night of my favorite glee club! What did you think?

Episode 14 GLEE-wind
by Brittany Geragotelis
All I can say about last night is...W-O-W!
"Glee's" first ep back (after too long of being off air) was UH-mazing. Chock-full of comedy, music and drama, this episode did not disappoint.
How awesome was the music in this episode?!?! It was kind of cool to hear Rachel singing something more pop-ish than the Broadway-esque music she usually sings on the show. And how many times have we sung along with music on the radio, wishing we were singing to that guy who hurt us? The payback Rachel was able to deliver to Phinn through singing All American Rejects' "Give You Hell"—Well, payback's a bitch, right?
From the moment Mr. Shu mentioned they'd be choosing songs with "Hello" in the title, I was yelling, "Do 'Hello' by Lionel Ritchie!" at the TV. When I saw that Rachel was holding the album (or was it sheet music?) in her hands, I squealed with glee (pun intended)! This song has been a favorite of mine for a long time, so hearing it in a duet by Rachel and the new guy (whose character I love, but I have a feeling he's not such a good guy) really rocked my socks off.
And can we take a moment to talk about the blonde, dim-witted cheerleader, Brittany? (No, not me. I'm a brunette. And retired from my cheerleading days) I love that they're giving this character more of a role this 1/2 of the season. Her timing and delivery of her lines is nothing short of GENIUS. How funny was she when she turned to Santana and said "You know that dolphins are just gay sharks, right?"
Lastly...I can't wait until next week's episode. Madonna is the focus of this one, and I think it's going to be the best episode of the season. Don't believe me? Take a look at the music video they aired after last night's ep...Seriously, OMG!!!
