Going under the knife

by Brittany Geragotelis

So, this past week was not an easy one in the Geragotelis household...

First off, after suffering from some tooth aches, I finally sucked it up and went to the dentist. If you know me, than you know I'm terrified of the dentist. And I'm embarrassed to admit it, but it had been 3 years since I'd been to the dentist, all because I get so freaked out. We're talking panic attacks just having them clean my teeth. Anyway, the pain got bad enough that I ended up going...and had to get a few cavities filled and two wisdom teeth out.

So, last Wednesday, I went in, they knocked me out and took out my wisdom teeth. Now, one of the teeth, you couldn't have noticed anything had been done. There was no pain, no swelling, no nothing. The other? Oh man....it was awful. So much pain. My cheek more than doubled in size and it was rock hard. I ended up being really nauseous and was throwing up the first two days, possibly because of the pain killers, so I stopped taking them and switched over to advil and tylenol. I can barely open my mouth wide enough to fit a spoon in there, so for about four days, all I could eat was liquids. Ugh, it was miserable.

But that's not all.

The day after I had my wisdom teeth out, we had to bring our kitty, Cohen, in for surgery. He had a calcium stone in his bladder and they had to go in and take it out. While in there, the doctors found more stones in his urethra, and had to try and get those out, too. So, when we got to take Cohen home on Saturday, his poor little belly was shaved and he has a long line of stitches across his stomach. And he was peeing blood. This was apparently normal, since all the surgery took place in his bladder. But still, it's hard to see someone you love in pain.

He seems to be doing better now, though. Resting, relaxing, running around. And i think I'm finally on the mend, too. So, here's hoping that the worst is over. I hope that everyone else is in good health!

5x5,
B.

Poor Cohen had to have his belly shaved for his surgery
Cohen's bloodbruise looks like a kiss on his belly!
My kitty was a bit mangy when he first got home from the hospital....
...But he's still so cute!
Ick! Chipmunk cheeks! Cant wait to eat solid foods again!
The two of us recovering. We'll be back on our feet again soon!

Oh I feel so sorry for the two of you. Poor Cohen. His tummy looks painful. . . and your cheek too. Glad that you are both on the mend
